Why Velvet Never Goes Out of Fashion
I love velvet…this is definitely one of my favorite styles!
So, velvet. It never seems to go out of fashion. Ever, really. I mean, if you think about it (or even do research!), velvet has literally been “in” since the Victorian era, in history (40’s, 50’s, 60’s…), and even the not-too-long-ago ‘70’s. Clearly, velvet is not something that’s leaving fashion any time soon – especially with how, today, you could visit many large retailers and find velvet anything: tops, dresses, purses, chokers, shoes, and even furniture.
This doesn’t surprise me. Velvet feels incredible on the skin; soft, silky…and…well, velvet-y! Interestingly, velvet is made from a variety of different sources. It can be crafted from weft or fill yarns, and various types of fibers, such as silk and (less expensively) rayon.
There are so many reasons to wear velvet this fall…not only is it chic and trendy, but it’s also unique and bold in its own sense. How many people do you see wearing velvet when you leave the house? Probably, not very many. I think people should wear velvet more! I wore this velvet dress to church last Sunday and received so many compliments. I wore a full slip underneath to provide appropriate coverage for the function. LOL! Are you bold enough to give it a try?
This gorgeous maxi dress from Tobi is available in rose, green, and wine. Stylish, blush-hued, and gorgeous, this beautiful dress is a must-have for your fall and winter special events. Plunging neckline (a slip or camisole is a must for me), short-sleeved, pink perfection…you really can’t go wrong with this dress! It truly does make a statement and I think every woman needs that “one” dress that makes you feel A-MAZ-ING!
But, do keep in mind the weather and occasion when selecting velvet. It can be very warm, so it’s smart to wear velvet only during colder climates or more chill times of the year. Also: if you feel like an entirely velvet ‘fit may be a bit much for you, try opting for just a bag and/or shoes to add a touch of this magic fabric to your go-to outfit.
Tell me: Have you ever worn velvet? Would you consider trying it? Let me know in the comments below!
Thanks for reading! I leave you with one of my favorite quotes, as said by Eva Gabor: “All any girl needs, at any time in history, is simple velvet and basic diamonds.”
