Upping My Brow Game with Microblading
Every one of us has probably suffered from a bad brow game. This is obviously a concern for women as there are a plethora of eyebrow products and services available to tackle this issue. Although I love all of the amazing brow makeup products available, I am looking for a more long-term but not permanent solution for my brows. Like you, I am busy – sometimes too busy! There are so many things that require my time and attention. Putting my best face forward gives me confidence and makes me feel beautiful all at the same time. Deciding to have my brows microbladed has been one of the best decisions I’ve made to enhance my beauty routine. Plus, it is a time saver in getting ready each morning. Yes!
It has saved me so much time in getting ready. Did I say that already? This is one of the biggest perks of getting your brows microbladed. No one’s brows are perfect and that is OK. If you are satisfied with yours, I am not here to convince you otherwise. However, I was self-conscious about the shape of my brows. They were asymmetrical, uneven and sparse. But more importantly, I wanted more time in the morning to get a jumpstart on my day with my face looking refreshed and ready. I no longer wanted to fuss with my brows all of the time. This mama has things to do, places to go and people to see. It was time to do something about my brows.
Brows by Shiwa
I am so thankful to Brows by Shiwa in Ladera Ranch, California. She has single-handedly created the brows of my dreams. I must share with you that this isn’t my first time getting my brows microbladed. I had it done for the first time a couple of years ago from another eyebrow specialist. Due to the distance, I had to travel to get it done so I was seeking a studio closer to home and thus my research began. Finding a new brow artist was not a decision to be taken lightly.
My recommendation to you, as I did the same thing all over again in finding a brow artist, is to do your research. I spent time on the internet researching microblading specialists in the area. I went to social media and got word of mouth recommendations too. All of this matters because, let’s face it, it is your face. Microblading is a semi-permanent solution that lasts a year or two with a retouch so you can’t gamble with someone who doesn’t know what they are doing. The adage, “You get what you pay for“ is most definitely true when it comes to microblading. We all have heard the stories and seen subpar work.
Shiwa’s studio was bright, clean and elegant. Before our appointment, we discussed my goals for my brows. She answered every question carefully and thoughtfully. I never felt I was bothersome, nor did I feel like she was rushed addressing my questions. This is important ladies. Find someone who is patient, who will answer all of your questions and concerns in a professionally intelligent manner and who speaks proudly about their work and service.
What to Expect
After the medical paperwork was completed, she carefully mapped my facial features. It was a collaborative process as I inspected the shape with a hand-held mirror. When my desired shape was formed through the mapping process, we moved to the next
To my surprise, the pain level with Shiwa was not bad at all. Seriously, I was A-OK and comfortable. I almost canceled my appointment with her because I was so scared of the pain I had felt during a previous experience with someone else. We chatted through the process and I was able to inspect the work here and there. Mostly, I just enjoyed the experience and had full trust in what Shiwa was doing. In less than two hours, my brows were done!
Honest Review
Right away, I looked at my new brows in awe. I didn’t want anything crazy just a look that was natural and complimentary to my bone structure. Well, I got just that! When she outlined my brows, originally I was really worried that the look would be too bold. Shiwa explained that my new eyebrow shape was needed to give me the symmetry and fullness I desired. I took a leap of faith and went with her suggestions, and after looking at the final results, I am so happy I did it. I realized after looking at my newly microbladed brows how uneven they had been. I am so thrilled!

I had a photo shoot and media event the next day and felt confident in public with my freshly microbladed brows. I thought I would hide in the corner from people but the shape looked so beautiful and natural that no one knew I had it done – so I wanted to show them off.
Thank you so much Shiwa for my bomb brows.

I’ve heard of microblading before but never given it a try. I am a wimp when it comes to things like this! Luckily, with blonde hair, I can go quite a while between waxing appointments since my hair isn’t very noticeable.
I’ve heard of microblading but din’t really know what it was, so thanks for sharing. I may have to try it out sometime.
I want to try it so badly! I love the results
Oh I am jealous of your brows! Your brow game is on point! I need to find some place that does this around here!
Your brows look great! I’ve always heard about microblading but didn’t know much about it. This article explains it so well!
I’ve always plucked and shaped my brows myself, but my eyebrows are light color, so in certain light, it looks like half is missing or I don’t have any. lol. I have been thinking about getting this done! Thanks for the review!
This was super informative, thank you for sharing! Your brows look amazing, so true that Shiwa is an artist!!
I’ve seen a few videos on the process and it always sounds a little terrifying to me. That’s awesome you found someone so lovely and that the pain was minimal!
Turned out pretty good. Thanks for sharing your experience.
One of these parlors just opened up in our Mall. I have been waxing my eyebrows for years and never knew this existed! I have to try this out…at least once.
Wow, I love the results! You look stunning. Thanks for sharing your experience!
It does look like it was well done. I don’t know enough about dealing with eyebrows but I do know people struggle and this looks like they do a good job.
That just seems like so much work. I personally just don’t understand the brow obsession. Don’t get me wrong I will take care of mine at home, but I don’t go into great lengths to do it.
I have never even HEARD of microblading before! I am so glad you are pleased with the process and the results, though – what a great feeling!
