Happy Monday Dolls! I love hearing from you guys through my blog, Instagram and emails. I read all of your messages and it keeps me inspired and supported! I want to share with you a part of me that is really special and sacred. It is my love for the Native American culture. The Native American culture is filled with so much beauty, rich tradition, and reverence for Mother Nature. All of this is a part of me.
My father who I love with all my life entered my life in my early twenties. He is actually my step-dad but he is the father I never had. He is part Spanish and part Native American. My father is a Native American shaman and I have watched him conduct many spiritual ceremonies and healings. It is quite powerful and my life has been changed through his teachings and example.
One ceremony in particular was held at a sundance in Neola, Utah. Where the stars are so bright and close you could almost reach out and touch them. During this three day ceremony he sang prayers to heaven and participated in sweat lodges while fasting without food and water. It was incredible to witness his sacrifice for us, his love for all people, and the Great Spirit.
It was during this time my family was given our Native American Indian names. He had been praying about our names for months. We were invited into the medicine circle among all the warriors there. It was so powerful and sacred to be among those so mighty and valiant. Here my dad announced our Native American names to all and the Great Spirit:
Albert (my husband): Stands Like a Rock
Me: Soft Wind Woman
Emi: River Song
Chloe: Dove
Elijah: Spotted Wolf (his name was given at later Native American ceremony as he was not born yet. It was at this exact ceremony where my father was given a vision that he was to have a grandson in the future!)
It is hard to condense all of this in one blog post! There is so much I have felt and seen with the Native American culture and people. When UnCensorYourself contacted me about a collaboration — I had to give it some thought. It was important that I would wear something that would have tremendous meaning for me. When she created these beautiful copper pieces of jewelry with my family’s Native American names I was so touched!
