The Power of Purple: V-Neck Maxi Dress
Spring is around the corner, and I can barely wait to start wearing outfits to match this delightful season. Although I love to mix between patterns and colors, I am recently inspired by one dye in specific.
The ancient Phoenicians, 3.000 years ago, discovered how to extract an exciting new color for the time: purple. Back then, one gram of pigment extraction required thousands of Murex brandaris shells. Can you imagine how tedious and time-consuming this was? So of course, something so challenging to produce, wouldn’t be cheap!
It turns out that for long years, purple used to cost more than its weight in gold, only used on luxurious robes and dresses for the aristocracy and church. Some kings would even prohibit their wives from buying gowns with this pigment, due to its substantial price. Commoners (like us) were merely allowed to wear white, green or brown. Boring right?
Thanks to science and chemistry, these old times are long gone, and we all can enjoy the freedom to wear any color we wish. As spring is coming, nothing more inspirational than to bring cheerful and delicate clothing to brighten up our day. I felt inspired by purple dye because it combines the stability of blue and the fierce of red. As it is a rare occurring in nature, this color is considered delicate as a flower. Orchids, lavender and violet flowers are great examples of that.
Even though purple is not an expensive pigment anymore, it still carries its properties from the past. Associated with nobility and luxury, is also seen as feminine, elegant and even related to some high spirituality. Not a color to take for granted for sure, especially when so perfectly combined with a lovely dress.
Sexymodest by Brigitte Brianna has all I could have asked for this season. Available in three sizes and ten varied colors and patterns, the orchid shade is the one I fell in love. This modest v-neck maxi dress is elegant, graceful, and lightweight. Perfect for a date or a casual day out with the family. The V neck and elastic band waist give the perfect amount of sexiness and delicacy. Comfortable and effortlessly stylish.
Some Cool Shades of Purple to Follow in 2019
Light Lavender
This hue is delicate, reminds us of flourishing spring petals of lavender. Perfect for who is seeking an outfit that shows tranquility and softness, but nonetheless bold. You can go from a delicate flower to a punk rock one, depending on your accessories or other layers. This is another pastel that made an appearance for spring/summer 2019 trends.
Ultra Violet
This fascinating and intriguing color captivates and provokes due to its intensity and brightness. It was defined as the Pantone color for 2018 and keeps turning heads in the fashion world. Perfect for physically and mentally confident women.
