Why Rest and Recover?
The importance of rest and recovery has become more apparent to me now that I am older. I prioritize every night before sleeping, the many tasks, responsibilities and commitments that lie ahead as a mother, wife, friend, and community member. I can honestly say I have never had a day in my life where I felt “bored”. To me there is always something to do and improve at. I am a constant work in motion.
I love the endorphin rush I get from a hard workout and sense of accomplishment from completing a task off my to-do list. I am an extremely goal-orientated person. However, when I over-train at the gym and over-commit to things that do not bring purpose to my life; I become sick. Nature has a beautiful way of teaching us life lessons through our biology. Rest and recovery is a crucial component of my fitness training and overall well-being.
This is what REST means to me and I would like to share that with you:
- R = Repair
- E = Eat
- S = Sleep & Stretch
- T = Time
There is always some sort of home construction madness in effect at our crib. Another reason why rest and recovery is a must for me! Here’s a pic of our final selection for our flooring choice – wood floor tile. Do you like it?
