Lorna Jane has personally invited me to share with you their 3-part philosophy to living a healthy active life! The three parts are MOVE, NOURISH, and BELIEVE! I fully embrace these components and it has been a part of my lifestyle for as long as I remember! Today I am going to share with you my thoughts on what ‘MOVE’ and ‘NOURISH’ means to me.
MOVE
I remember as a teenager my mother taking me to the gym with her to exercise. She made it a priority to get fit as a family. Because of that early introduction I enjoy moving my body and breaking a sweat! For me, I enjoy exercising 4 to 6 times a week. Some days, it is a tranquil walk around the lake or a sweat session on the stationary bike or treadmill at the gym. If you are just starting out incorporate any physical activity 3 – 5 days a week for 20 – 30 minutes.
Another way of MOVING my body is using free weights or the machines. I also enjoy participating in a group kettlebell, cycling, or yoga class. I have also found working with a personal trainer helps me be accountable and motivated. I love variety! The point is I am selecting activities I love. I invite you to do the same. Choose activities you enjoy doing whether it is inside the gym or outdoors. Making a commitment to exercise daily is the best way to start your transformation.
NOURISH
To be quite honest, it has taken years of trial and error to fully understand how I can nourish my body. I am still learning and that absolutely excites me. I am completely in charge of taking care of my health. When I am at my optimal best I am better able to serve my family and community. To NOURISH means so much more than just feeding your body with healthy foods. It also means taking the time to rest and recover.
NOURISH your soul with quiet time, mediation and R&R. Do not underestimate the benefits of being still. Your body depends on you – to love it and care for it. NOURISH your mind, body, and soul with healthy food, time out for yourself, and positive people to enhance the quality of your life. This is a great investment to your health!
