This year, I fully embraced the Halloween spirit and had a blast decorating our home for the season! 🎃👻 I dug out some old Halloween decorations from storage and treated myself to a few new pieces, mixing them together to create a spooky, festive atmosphere for my home.
Whether you’re working with what you already have or adding some fresh touches, here’s how I decorated our home for Halloween and how you can easily transform your space too!
Front Porch: Setting the Spooky Tone The first spot I focused on was the front porch. I wanted to create a spooky yet welcoming vibe, so I added two new raven-themed wreaths to the door. The dark, mysterious ravens were a perfect touch, setting an eerie mood right as you walk up to the house. Plus, they added a sophisticated, gothic feel to the overall look.
(Tip: Wreaths are a quick and easy way to elevate your outdoor space without much effort!)
Entryway: Skeletons, Bats, and Jack-o’-Lanterns Next up was the entryway. I used skeleton figures from previous years—because let’s be honest, nothing screams Halloween quite like a bony friend to greet guests! I also reused some old jack-o’-lantern candy buckets that have been in my collection forever. When I looked at the bottom of them, there was a sticker that listed they were made in 2016 and only costs 99 cents! They add a pop of traditional Halloween orange and bring that nostalgic charm I love.
For a new twist, I added 3D bat wall décor. It was simple to apply and made the space feel like the bats were swooping down from the walls! 🦇 It’s one of my favorite new additions this year.
(Tip: Repurposing older decorations is a great way to bring back memories while saving money.)
Fireplace Mantel: Spooky and Cute Mix The fireplace mantel was a fun project where I blended old and new pieces to create a spooky yet cozy display. I used skeletons, a crystal ball, and some classic spider webbing from my older collection. To keep things fresh, I added a new décor piece: a cute little Halloween owl that brought a whimsical touch to the setup.
(Tip: Combining old décor with a few new, trendy pieces can give your space a fresh look without replacing everything!)
Decorative Accent Pillows: Simple Seasonal Swaps One of the easiest ways to change up your home’s look for Halloween is by swapping out pillow covers. All you have to do is remove the current covers, store them for later, and slip on seasonal ones. This year, I added a fun, bat-themed pillowcase to the mix! It’s a simple, affordable way to reflect the season in any room without having to overhaul your décor.
(Tip: Keep your pillow inserts and just change out the covers to match the season—easy and space-saving!)
Adding Dimension: Hanging Spiders for Extra Spookiness To add dimension and make the space feel even spookier, I used two large spiders I’ve had for years. One of them lights up (fuzzy lit-up black spider), and the other hangs from a big black cobweb in the entryway, giving it that creepy, haunted feel.
(Tip: Larger items like hanging spiders or big web decorations can be bought after Halloween at discounted prices. If you have your eye on something for next year, keep an eye out for post-Halloween sales and clearance items!)
Bringing the Halloween spirit back into my home this year was such a fun project! 🎃 From spooky wreaths on the porch to skeletons, bats, and big spiders inside, I was able to create a festive, haunted atmosphere using a mix of old and new decorations.
If you’re thinking of decorating your space, don’t hesitate to use what you already have and add in a few fresh finds. You can even wait to snag those bigger items when they go on sale after Halloween. Happy haunting! 🕸️👻
