1. Prepping the Skin: Cleanse and Hydrate
Starting with a clean, fresh face is essential. I always use my favorite Black Sponge Spa Headband to keep my hair tucked back as I cleanse with the ToyFactory Hyaluronic Oat Milk Oil Makeup Remover. This product, part of my IPSY subscription, is gentle, hydrating, and removes all impurities while nourishing the skin.
2. Applying Vitamin C Serum for Protection
After cleansing, I use Clara’s New York Advanced Vitamin C Serum, also from my IPSY subscription, to brighten and protect my skin from UV rays. Vitamin C is a great daytime serum because it works well with sunscreen, providing an extra layer of protection and evening out skin tone.
3. Moisturizing for a Radiant Glow
Next, I lock in hydration with the Tovegan Green Glow Up Cream—another fantastic product from my IPSY subscription. This lightweight moisturizer provides a healthy glow and a smooth base for makeup, making it the perfect pre-makeup step.
4. Primer for Long-Lasting Makeup
To ensure my makeup lasts through the night, I apply Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base. This primer doubles as a moisturizer, prepping the skin with vitamins and leaving it feeling nourished while creating a smooth, flawless canvas (also included in my IPSY subscription).
5. Lips and Eyes: Creating a Bold Red Goth Look
For the lips, I created a deep, intense goth look using L’Oréal Paris Infallible Matte Resistance Liquid Lipstick in Le Rouge Paris 420. To give the lips extra definition, I lined them with L’Oreal Paris Infallible Grip Waterproof Mechanical Gel Eyeliner in 200 Intense Black and filled them with the vibrant red lipstick. This combination gave my lips a bold, gothic edge, perfect for a witchy vibe.
For the eyes, I went for a smoky cat-eye look. I used L’Oreal Paris Infallible Grip Waterproof Mechanical Gel Eyeliner in 200 Intense Black to both define my eyes and smoke out the cat eye for a dramatic effect. To deepen the red tones, I layered L’Oréal Paris Infallible Matte Resistance Liquid Lipstick in Le Rouge Paris 420 over my eyeshadow, adding spooky under-eye smears and bright red hues on the lids.
6. The Smokey Eye: Eyeshadows and Lashes
To complete my eye look, I used MORPHE Eyeshadow Palette with two red-toned shades: #MORPHEBABE (bright red-orange) and #MAKEOVER (oxblood red). These blended perfectly with the lipstick, adding intensity to the smoky eye. Unfortunately, these two eyeshadow palettes have been discontinued.
I did some researching and they have two new palettes that are close matches. For the #MORPHEBABE hue use the shades that are most bright red-orange in MORPHE 35XO Natural Flirt Artistry Palette. And, for the #MAKEOVER shade use MORPHE Crowd Pleaser Eyeshadow Palette and combine the Agreed and Total Empath shades to get an oxblood red color.
For that extra drama, I finished with KISS Lash Couture Masterpiece in Pret-A-Porter lashes, applied with DUO Brush-On Striplash Adhesive in Clear. The result? Mesmerizing eyes that captivate!
7. My Outfit: A Thrifted Cape and Sentimental Pieces
No Red Witch look would be complete without a stunning outfit. I found a gorgeous thrifted red cape (love this see-through tulle hooded cape), which adds the perfect amount of drama to the ensemble. Underneath, I wore a simple yet stylish red tank from Kohl’s.
To top it all off, I wore a goth choker that holds special meaning. My oldest daughter, Emi, wore this choker during her acting days when she did goth-themed headshots as a little girl. I’m so happy I held onto it because it adds the perfect sentimental and edgy touch to my Halloween look.
