Do you find yourself squinting a little more? For some, it happens when reading labels, and for others it happens when reading street signs. Whatever the case is, it is normal for your vision to change as you age. However, it is up to us to take care of our bodies. If you find yourself having a hard time focusing on images near or far, discerning between colors such as blue or black, needing more light to see well, or struggling to see where an object ends and its background begins, it may be time to see your doctor for an eye exam and vision screening.
How I Got Started on My Eyeglass Journey
Recently, I noticed how hard I had been squinting while driving to read road signs and then realized I do the same thing to watch movies. Though my vision is good, it is not good enough to feel confident navigating everyday scenarios such as driving safely. I quickly grew concerned about seeing well while driving at night. I also want to enjoy watching movies at home with my family without squinting—what fun is that if you can’t even fully witness the cinematography of a movie!
I knew it was time to set up my annual eye exam and embrace the fact that I need to wear glasses from time to time. I guess my concern about wearing glasses was purely vain. I was worried that wearing glasses would age me. Plus, I don’t think I have the face or nose to look cute in a pair. But remembering how anxious I felt driving home at night and in the early mornings while taking my kids to school reminded me how important it was to take care of my vision and to realize that it wasn’t a big deal! Who knows? I thought. Perhaps I would even look cute wearing them.
My First Online Eyeglass Purchase with Fitz Frame
Coincidentally, my girls‘ annual eye exams were coming up, so it felt natural to set up an appointment for myself too. Now that I had a prescription for glasses, it was time to venture out into the eyeglasses world and secure a pair for myself. But I was feeling anxious about it because there were so many options. Plus, considering the coronavirus pandemic, I wanted to minimize my contact with people outside of the house and wasn’t particularly keen to test frames at an optical store. Thankfully, the eyeglasses gods read my mind and sent a friend my way.
My new friends at Fitz Frames contacted me for a partnership, and I thought the coincidence was so uncanny yet absolutely timely. Fitz Frames is an online prescription eyeglasses shop that offers customized, 3D-printed glasses. The ordering process is made easy via their handy app. They also offer non-prescription glasses. I love the convenience of not going into stores and waiting 6+ weeks for glasses. Fitz delivers your glasses in 1-2 weeks—all via your smartphone.
My girls have ordered glasses online before, but the experience was lengthy and cumbersome when the fit wasn’t correct or the style was not what they had anticipated. I am so glad that with Fitz Frames I could have an entirely different experience that was much more pleasant and, more importantly, accurate. Their online shop allows for customization, choosing a style and color that fits your personality! This is very different from the “mail home try-on” companies that will not make glasses 100% custom to your face.
Fitz Frame’s Thousand-Point (Perfect!) Fit
Remember how I told you I felt like my face was suited for sunglasses? Well, it is because I have a wide nose bridge, and it is hard to find glasses that fit me and most importantly fit comfortably. This is why Fitz Frames is superior. Their easy and innovative app measured over 1,000 points on my face for a perfect fit. My eyeglasses are so comfortable, and they stay put. It doesn’t hurt my nose bridge. Plus, I love the feel of the glasses—they are so lightweight!
I also love that they have a 30 Day Happiness Guarantee. If for any reason, you are not satisfied with your Fitz Frames you can return it for a full refund, no questions ask within 30 days. Order your new frames for you and your family with a peace of mind.
It was so cool when I found out that my glasses were 3D Printed and perfectly designed with the measurements I uploaded into the Fitz app for that superb custom fit. So, when my girls are ready for a new pair of eyeglasses, we will definitely order through Fitz Frames.
The style of the frame is certainly in the gray color. The lenses are High Index, which means they are thinner lenses for stronger prescriptions, and include blue-light filtering, which filters out harmful rays from digital screens. How perfect is that?!
What’s Blue Light, and Why Do I Need to Worry About It?
For those who are not familiar with what blue light is, let me tell you about it. Blue light is near-ultraviolet light emitted by smartphones, tablets, computer monitors, and TVs. Studies show that blue light can be a factor for headaches and eyestrain, and can prevent healthy sleep cycles. Exposure to blue light over time can lead to macular degeneration, yikes! Thank goodness Fitz Frames’ customized, 3D-printed blue–light glasses filter out 56% of damaging blue–light rays.
Fitz Frames on the Coronavirus Frontlines
Also, this is noteworthy to mention: Fitz Frames offers special glasses for medical professionals called Fitz Protect. It is a new line of protective eyewear designed to meet the needs of frontline medical personnel providing defense against the novel coronavirus. Offered in both prescription and non-prescription options, these glasses are designed to provide more facial coverage and droplet protection than traditional glasses and are custom-fitted to the individual’s facial dimensions. And let’s not forget their in-app technology measures over 1,000 points on each face for a perfect fit and all-day comfort.
Doctors and nurses are already on the front lines making huge sacrifices, and they should have the eyewear they need to both see and protect themselves from infection. Fitz Frame glasses hug the contours of the wearer’s face and provide enhanced protection. These are not a substitute for full-seal personal protective equipment, but they do provide an additional line of defense from virus-containing, airborne droplets that could go into eyes and cause illness. Fitz Protect is designed to be disinfected using standard procedures already in place in healthcare environments.
How Much Does Fitz Frame Cost?
Let me give you the breakdown of my Fitz Frame purchase to also share with you how budget friendly it is. The cost for my pair was $165 USD ($95 for the base cost + $30 for blue–light filtering +$40 for High Index lenses). Not bad at all.
Plus, Fitz Frames has created a special coupon code for my readers: you can get 10% off your first order with the code DEBBIE10.

Lol, this gave me memories of being in my 20’s and having to shop for glasses in the kids’ section of the optometrist because my face is so narrow and small. And choosing the right shape frame was just as hard!!! Things have certainly changed.
This frame looks great on you girl! Do they have this in red color? Will check their site and shop 🙂
Good to know about the brand. I use glasses all the time now as I am at home, unable to use contacts due to housework. Need to check out the brand, the designs are smart.
