To Wear or Not To Wear | Bodycon Dressess
I have always loved bodycon dresses. I love the way I feel in them confident and sexy. This one-piece wonder showcases all of your magnificence without exposing too much skin. It is my belief that the less skin you reveal the more attractive you look.
Bodycon is a word combination of two words: body and confidence. Feeling confident in your body means you love your body unconditionally. You embrace your body for all of the good and the bad. You treat your body with respect and nurture it with things that make it feel alive and thriving. This process of body acceptance has been a journey for me and it is my quest to teach my daughters how divine their bodies are from early on.
Body Shapes Which One Are You?
I want to empower you to do to the same – become more comfortable in your own skin. And perhaps, if you have never worn a bodycon dress, take a style jump and try one on! Regardless of your body shape – every woman can look ravishing in a bodycon dress. Choosing the perfect bodycon style will be easier when you know your body shape. Let’s talk about the four common body shapes: banana, apple, pear, and hourglass.
Banana: Do you have a rectangular or column-like body? Are your hips and shoulders proportionate and appear to be straight from top to bottom? Think Cameron Diaz. Rectangle body shapes will look great in bodycon dresses that create curves and an illusion of a more defined waist. Look at dress here, here, here.
Apple: If you are broad in the shoulders, waist, upper back and have a fuller bust with thin legs/thighs you are an apple. Liz Hurley and Catherine Zeta-Jones have apple shaped bodies. Inverted triangle body shapes should play up the bottom portion with bright colors, packed prints, and texture. Check out bodycon dresses here, here, here.
Pear: Pear shaped bodies are heaviest around their waist and hips. Vertical seams and zippers, pleating, contrasting stitching can visually elongate your frame. Jennifer Lopez and Beyonce (my two favs) are pear shaped. These bodycon dress styles are made just for you — here, here, here.
Hourglass: This body shape is naturally balanced. The width of your shoulders and hips are proportional. Think Scarlett Johansson and Eva Longoria. Your goal is to accentuate your hips, let your natural curves shine. Avoid loose or baggy silhouettes, thus bodycon dresses are a perfect match for you. See bodycon dresses here, here, here.
For my pregnant mamas you can of course wear bodycon dresses too! Check them out here, here and here!
