Empower Young People
Happy Monday! My last blog post I mentioned my fun photo shoot with my family in Utah. I know you guys have been waiting for it. Well, here it is! We had so much fun playing in the snow in South Jordan, Utah. But man, was it freezing! You will see the cool photos of my sweet husband Albert, my daughter Chloe, and my son Elijah. Emi, my eldest daughter, was home sick with grandma. We sure missed her here. Our family isn’t complete without her. I hope you enjoy the photos. They were photographed by my talented cousin Jeanine of Jeanine Chhim Photography.
I have partnered with my friends at Be Above Drugs to share 6 Ways to Empower Young People. Whatever your calling is, you can make an impact in a child’s life through your words and example. I grew up without a father in my life. My parents divorced when I was four years old. I can’t begin to tell you how blessed I was to have had many great friends, leaders and mentors in my life to support and guide me. My self-esteem was so delicate and raw. It was through kind expression, service, and love that I blossomed to become the woman I am. These angels of mine saw great worth and had a strong desire to empower young people!
Albert and I are a team when it comes to living our life together and raising our tribe. We may not be on the same page all of the time, and that is okay. It is important is that we honor our roles as parents. We take regular evaluations on our parenting abilities to find ways where we can improve our connection and bond with our three kids. Our children range from 7 to 14 years old and all have different needs, wants, concerns, personalities, etc. We understand how important it is to empower young people, specifically our children, but also the youth we interact with through friends, school, and church.

Parents have a huge role in building the self-esteem, confidence, and emotional strength in their children. I am excited to share with you what has worked for Albert and I in our quest to raise our kids in greatness!
6 Ways to Empower Young People
Show your children how much you love them. You can never go overboard with love. Shower your kids with love daily through words, warm embraces, and gestures of kindness.
Listen to your kids. Show parental concern about your children’s problems. Talk less, listen more.
Peace begins at home. Strive to have harmony in home. Make home a safe place to be.
Help your kids. Provide parental availability to offer competent and organized help when needed.
Be fair. Set clear and fair rules with your kids. Make sure the entire family is on the same page with rules.
Stay consistent and firm in your standards. Gently enforce rules, yet hold your kids accountable for their actions.

A big thanks to Be Above Drugs for these awesome hoodies and sweatshirt to remind us of our sacred power, duty, and influence to empower young people to live their best lives. When children have a solid understanding of their worth, they will have the strength and confidence to stand for what they value. They will have the grit to resist the many temptations that the world has out there to pull them down and distract them from reaching their potential.
Please join my family and Be Above Drugs to commit to making an effort this year to empower the youth of today with your words and action. I hope this post has inspired you to give more of yourself and to pay it forward to those in need. If you have had a mentor in your life as a youth I would love to hear your story too!
Sure looks like an awesome campaign. I love the idea of empowering children with words and action. I always believe that we parents should set a good example for them to emulate. Constant encouragement and lots of love is how we show the kids that they can reach for their dreams. We’re all about supporting them reach it.
My girls and I partnered with Be Above Drugs too! What an amazing company and we love raising awareness on this issue! Great Post Debbie about empowerment too!

How awesome! The sweaters are so cute too and I love tagline “above drugs”. Thanks for sharing this!!! xoxo
Great advice for empowering our kids to grow up to be happy, healthy, confident adults. I think it is also important to remember to be the parent. I see so many parents saying that want to be their kids friend, but that isn’t your job. We have to set boundaries and rules, provide guidance, offer support, and help our kids succeed. It’s something only parents can do.
The fact that our parents have a much bigger impact on our lives than we already think is mind boggling. From setting standards to being role models, empowering young people from an impressionable age is incredibly important.

Great statement sweatshirts. I agree that the home life has to be on the right road to keep the child on the right road. I try to communicate with my kids daily. Ask engaging questions, interact with them and listen. I listen to who my kids talk about and what they say.
These are all perfect! My husband and I share the same philosophy that we are a team and we support each other as well as our children. We have rules and try to be fair but stern with our kids while also showing how much we love them.
I know for certain my husband and I will raise our future children with a realistic mind set and always showcase/remind them of their positive attributes… Because everyone has to WORK WITH what they have been blessed with!
Love this! I’m putting this on my board at home. I think it is super important to empower children, after all they are the future. Raising competent young adults is extremely important as a parent. Thank you for sharing. You have an adorable family, great photos!
I love those statement sweatshirts! It’s so important to stay involved… spoken from someone who had great parental support and made it through a lot!
This is such an important post! Good to empower them when they’re young.
How cute is your tribe!!! Love the message of your sweatshirts. It can be hard to enter into each new phase of parenting, but I’m grateful for any advice you can throw my way!
Very important tip. Especially “listen”. Very often the youths are not heard. Plus you all look beautifull.

This is inspiring. I have never really thought about being a role model for kids, but I think maybe I can offer some wisdom to help them later
This is awesome! We have to take care and inspire young people to hope for a better future!
Love everything about this post. It definitely is our duty as parents to empower the youth and equip them with the love, understanding, and emotional needs they have so that they can prosper as adults one day as well. I pray that I’m doing my best as a mother !

You have a very beautiful family!! I absolutely love the ackets and what they stand for. Your tips are easy to follow and incorporate in daily lives. We do need to continue to empower our young people. I have 3 of my own and teens can be a challenge. Thanks!
Lovely family! Young people these days are too difficult to handle, it’s always best to empower them at a young age so they grow to become good individuals. I love the ways mentioned especially listening. Children love appreciation and being listened to and also a big yes to family growing as a team.
