French women know how to dress elegant without overdoing it. This is mystifying to me because I love everything in excess. When it comes to fashion I love bright colors and big accessories. But, you know sometimes if not most times, less is always more. French women exude an effortless sense of style that I admire. I am finding this minimalist approach to fashion to be satisfying and a perfect match for my busy lifestyle. Here are five steps to Parisian effortless elegance that will help you obtain that Parisian je ne sais quoi!
5 Steps to Parisian Effortless Elegance
- Chose staples over trends. Select pieces that suit your body type and is tailored well. They may seem boring to some, but these staple pieces paired well with any seasonal piece and really help you stand out.
- Save money and buy quality. Don’t get me wrong I love a good bargain and sales excite me, but there are times you shouldn’t settle. When you invest in a higher quality item, you will continue to use it year after year.
- Simply your closet. Don’t let your closet overwhelm you. Clear it of pieces that no longer serve you. When you walk into your closet, let your pieces inspire you, not overwhelm you. This will help you choose a look that will amplify the end result effortlessly.
- Understated vs Loud. There is beauty in choosing a garment that has a subtly to it. Don’t let the your clothes wear you; but, rather let yourself shine in your clothes.
- The perfect blend of high and low. Not everything in your wardrobe needs to be high-end. Along with your staple wardrobe pieces incorporate fun seasonal pieces to add personality to your look.
Allow your clothes to be the perfect backdrop for your personality, beauty, and vibe. These are the qualities about us we want to shine. Sticking to the basics, putting effort into what you wear (quality and fit) and finding what works and wearing it regularly will help you nail that Parisian effortless elegance.

I agree with it all especially with saving money on a good quality item that can last you a long time. I love your skirt and the colour is so rich❤️
Thank you so much! I love my Chanel bag that we saved for and look forward to getting another designer bag! I am obsessed!
There is really something about Parisian style, they seem to just shine with it. I definitely think that sometimes saving and buying something amazing is a good thing to do as it lasts so long.
Hi Sarah! You said it perfectly! Thank you for leaving a comment!
Thanks for this giveaway! I LOVE Target!! And I could easily spend $500 there!!
Hi Kristi ANN~ Target is a fun and dangerous place for me too!
I love how simple yet chic Parisian fashion is. They choose classic pieces over trendy ones which is definitely something that I prefer. It’s good to simplify your closet as well. Great tips and I love your outfit!
This is an awesome giveaway. Who doesn’t love Target? I just love the color of that skirt!
Hi Stephanie! I wasn’t so sure of the color of the skirt when I originally got it but I love it now! #oxbloodred

Thank you so much! xo
I really love the look of those heels but sadly I’d probably kill myself trying to walk in them. I still haven’t mastered that skill LOL
LOL! It is an art to walk in heels though high! It is so fun to dress up once in a while! xo
Loving this look! It’s not something I could pull off though! Great giveaway too!
Thank you so much! I would love to see your take on Parisian style! xo
Oh I love that bag! It’s so unique.
Thank you so much Adaleta! xo
Hi Evelyn! I agree all the way – the tips feel so natural! xo
Hi AnnMarie! I am so glad you found my tips inspirational! Thanks for stopping by!
This is a gorgeous outfit. I don’t know that I would have ever thought to pair them together. Of course I am not a fashion smart person. You look great.
I spent my teens buying cheap clothes and then figured out they just don’t last. I love the pieces you’ve selected to show off a Parisian look and love knowing they’ll be around for years to come.
You are seriously just the prettiest!!! And i adore that outfit–looks great on you. I need that skirt too!
Great advice. I love the idea of mixing high end with more affordable pieces. I like to invest in classics that will last. I also don’t always follow the trends because like you said, “don’t let the clothes wear you.”
I never did follow fashion trends. Since I was young, I always bought staple clothing. I found it more practical that way. I love your advice of mixing classic and designer items. That’s a good one. I will have to put that into practice the next time I shop for clothes.
Great tips! The Parisian style is so beautiful, I absolutely love the effortless way they make their outfits look!! Love your skirt btw!!
I love your over all look. It has a sense of balance that really looks chic.
I love your outfit! I like how you’re nailing pencil skirt with that sweatshirt. One word, elegant. Indeed!
I love how you have styled this sweatshirt, it look so great with the skirt and heels, rather than the obvious choice, jeans.
All looks amazing. Very stylish indeed. And oh, great giveaway too! Good luck to all entrants.
Totally agree! Great tips babe. I think this sweatshirt would also look fabulous tucked in. I’m creating a visual in my mind, lol.

Definitely agree with those tips. I’m more of an understated dresser myself and prefer stocking up on staples rather than following trends.
I love how you managed to turn a sweatshirt into the most stylish item ever. So cute!!
