Craving a chocolate treat but want to keep it healthy? These 4-ingredient flourless protein brownies are the perfect solution! Packed with protein and natural sweetness from bananas, they’re ideal for a quick, guilt-free snack or dessert.
Plus, they’re incredibly easy to make with just a few simple ingredients: bananas, protein powder, cocoa powder, and nut butter. Read on for the recipe and tips on customizing these brownies to suit your taste.
Things To Consider:
Bananas: The riper, the better for natural sweetness. Make sure to mash the bananas first for accuracy. You will need 1 cup, which generally equates to 2 to 3 bananas.

Protein Powder: Protein Powder: Use your favorite type; chocolate or vanilla works best. I liked using Orgain Organic Protein Powder because it is a plant-based protein made from organic pea protein, organic brown rice protein, organic mung bean protein, and organic chia seed. These ingredients will make the brownies moist whereas whey protein blends tend to dry out baked goods.
Cocoa Powder: This ingredient provides a rich, chocolatey flavor. You can use any unsweetened cocoa powder, but I love combining regular cocoa powder with a premium option like Ghirardelli Unsweetened Dutch Process Cocoa. This combination adds a decadent taste that truly enhances the chocolate flavor of these protein brownies.
Nut Butter: You can use peanut butter, almond butter, or even sunflower seed butter for a nut-free option. In this recipe, I opted for almond butter for its milder, sweeter flavor. However, I’ve also made these brownies with peanut butter, and I personally prefer the peanut butter version for its stronger, more savory taste.
Baking Pan: Use a square baking pan. An 8×8-inch baking dish like the USA Square Cake Pan works great! My 7×7-inch toaster oven pan was handy and I used that too. It created bite-sized brownies that were cute and yummy!
Blender: If you don’t want to mix the ingredients by hand, you can use a blender. I honestly love my Ninja Blender and Food Processor Combo.
